School Trips & Activity Days
Longridge-on-the-Thames
Set in a unique riverside location near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, Longridge provides a range of exciting water sports and land-based activities aimed at young people of all abilities. We provide a fun, challenging, safe environment for pupils to visit from across the UK and enjoy our unique blend of water and land adventurous activities. Longridge is equipped to offer both residential and day visits. We have schools that come and stay with us for a week and bring entire year groups, and schools that just come for a day of Team Building for the incoming Year Sevens. Some local schools have also chosen to run after school clubs at Longridge to give their students a chance to try out some different activities or even use them for their PE GCSE. We can work together to create the visit that suits your needs, all you have to do is get in touch.
Longridge has been in operation for over 50 years and our world-class facilities are now used by 85,000 young people each year. Longridge is set in a fantastic Thames riverside location, boasting 12 acres of beautiful water meadows near Marlow, Buckinghamshire. We have our very own private island perched in the Thames, which is ideal for kick-starting the ultimate Swallows and Amazons experience. Taylor Island also provides us with a sheltered backwater in which young people can experience the river with confidence.
Our range of accommodation can accommodate up to 140 young people in either our small bunk house or tented villages – or why not pitch up under canvas on our campsites, where we have camping for up to 500.
We are approved by British Canoeing and the Royal Yacht Association to provide vocational training courses that can lead to an accredited qualification. You can build a recognised course into your residential stay with us or for those schools close to the centre we can create a bespoke course running over a half-term. We are also able to support your Y11 pupils with their GCSE PE qualification sport modules.
All of our activities and training courses are fully risk-assessed and are reviewed annually.
We can provide our Risk Management and Child Protection policies, if you require any specific risk assessments our Bookings Team will with pleasure forward these to you.
Longridge is accredited by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) and we believe we are the best outdoor education facility in the UK. We encourage young people to develop water skills as well as important life skills such as leadership, self-discipline, confidence and respect.
